This Tamiya R/C car recreates a classic Audi A4 Quattro Touring car as it raced in 1997

In the late 1990s, manufacturer-backed teams would come to dominate touring car series around the world. One of the most pre-eminent was Audi, which spared no expense in its pursuit of the top of the podium. Using its base A4 quattro as a platform, Audi developed the car significantly and turned it into a race winner. In addition, Audi sought the best drivers from around the world in to do their creation justice.

Tamiya recreates this racer on top of the TT-01 E chassis, which is ideal for beginner kit builders. The original release of this Audi came on the Tamiya TA-03 machine.

Features a shaft drive 4WD TT-01 TYPE-E chassis that is fun to improve performance

The chassis is a vertical motor shaft drive 4WD TT-01 TYPE-E that is easy to assemble and has excellent maintainability. The bathtub-type main frame is equipped with a glass fibre-reinforced nylon resin upper deck and gear cover to ensure high chassis rigidity. The steering system is a three-part type with little play and smooth movement. Low centre of gravity and good balance. Combined with the body configuration, double wishbone 4-wheel independent suspension, and front and rear differential gears, it exhibits controllable handling characteristics. In addition, the plated wheels, which have realistically reproduced bolt shapes, have a 70mm outer diameter. Equipped with radial tires. Both are specially designed for track racing, and the tall tires produce mild cornering performance. Of course, you can also look forward to improving the performance by incorporating a wide variety of optional parts sold separately. 70mm-diameter radial tires are paired with metal plated wheels developed just for this model; the high sidewalls make for forgiving turns.
